With the announcement today that Roma have flown in to complete the €8m deal for Gervinho it pushes another player closer to the exit, which for us can only be a good thing.

I know we have all been frustrated with Arsenal's transfers so far this Summer we have seen a few high earning players leave:-

Andre Santos, Sébastien Squillaci, Vito Mannone, & Andrey Arshavin

Which I would imagine will have shaved £200,000pw (£10m a year) off our wage bill

Gervinho is on a reported £70,000 pw which would shave another £3.5 million off our wage bill.


Now it may just be me however Arsenal have done what is necessary in getting rid of the above players and potentially Gervinho, however it does now put the club in a position that signings have to be ready to come in because I do not think for a second that we dont have players ready to fill the gaps we need.

Also with Gervinho sale would mean we have an extra £6 million added to our transfer budget if we require it. I wouldn't be surprised to see the transfer of Bernard this week aswell as completing the sale of Hannibal the Cannibal.

Bernard is a great kid and would be under £5m but if you saw the Confederations Cup you will have seen he only came on near the end and got a HUGE response from the home crowd

ANother thing to remember is the tax we pay of the sales of inc Gervinho £8m ish would be maybe 20%?

Exactly I don't know how the saving in wages etc will effect the transfer budget because any signings will have to come from that point but it does mean as you say we are almost £300k pw better off I don't know what Suarez wages would be but I guess about £120k pw if he signs.

Not sure about Bernards wages but I don't imagine it would be above £60k

Id say put £150k aside for Suarez and Bernard is not ready for the prem but if he comes id say £20k a week as the old payment system has been scrapped by then upstairs so no longer will average players be on top wages

I just can't believe that we've let Higuain slip through our fingers, yes it may have taken him time to adjust to the premiership but Suarez is out for the first 6 games anyway and we're not confirmed that we will sign him yet

As for Suarez it wouldn't surprise me if Real Madrid don't come in for him and blow us out of the water now they have nearly sold Higuain to Napoli. And as for Rooney is he really worth 250k a week?

So it looks like Gervinho has gone and Chamakh is off to Crystal Palace on loan

Surely it is now time to bring players in as we would now be able to afford to Suarez £150k pw with out any difficulties and still be better off by about £7m a year.

I honestly do believe that Wenger would not be getting rid of these players if he didn't have players lined up to come in because this is our current squad :-

What i've heard is that it is an initial 1 year contract and not infact a loan.

So that would be AT LEAST £17m saved in wages. Also We've gained another £8 million for Gervinho sale and whatever (if anything) we get for Chamakh.

Yet..... still nothing in terms of players in and only a week till we kick off the new season.

I'm not surprised Arsenal haven't signed anyone. Same shit, different summer.
